Participants at the "Lebanese-Syrian Investment Forum 2026" showed strong interest in emerging economic opportunities and private sector partnerships between both countries. Business leaders emphasized the necessity of removing shared barriers, specifically easing investor mobility, addressing customs tariffs, and resolving double taxation issues. Attendees unanimously agreed that the true test begins post-forum by converting recommendations and discussions into concrete investment projects and a stable regulatory environment.
El-Bsat: From trade exchange to joint projects... and geography must serve the interests of Lebanon and Syria
Lebanese Minister of Economy and Trade Amer Al-Bsat affirmed that Lebanon and Syria face an opportunity to shift from addressing obstacles to building joint projects and economic partnerships. He emphasized the critical role of the private sector in driving investment and generating jobs, matched by the responsibility of governments to streamline procedures and protect investors. He called for leveraging the integration among ports, roads, transportation, expertise, and markets to expand bilateral trade and investment flows. He stressed that cooperation must not be confined to trade exchange, but should advance toward joint production, co-investment, and collective access to regional and global markets. He underscored that the true measure of success for this path lies in removing barriers, launching projects, accelerating investment inflows, and achieving tangible economic results.

During the conference, the ministers reviewed the key outcomes of their participation, as well as the bilateral meetings conducted throughout their visit to Lebanon. The discussions addressed critical portfolios including investment, trade, transport, tourism, healthcare, and agriculture, alongside the prospects for bilateral cooperation between the two nations. Members of the delegation underscored the importance of dismantling obstacles to business activity and fostering stronger partnerships between public institutions and the private sector. The press conference marked the closing stage of open, direct dialogue with the media regarding the future of Lebanese-Syrian economic and investment cooperation.
